Rear brake job and axle seal
I recently bought a 2005 F150 XL (4.6L, 2 valve) with 8 ft bed a few weeks ago. I think I got a good deal with 190,000 miles and $2,800.00.
Anywho I noticed one of the rear rotors (drivers side) had noticeable grooves when running your finger nail along the surface so I decided to replace the rear rotors.
After I removed the passenger rotor I noticed quite a bit of gunk on in the inside of the rotor and on the parking brake. I decided to replace both rear rotors even though only one was grooved. The brake pads still looked good but I changed them out anyway to ceramics.
I'm assuming that I need to replace the axle seal after watching one of the F150 repair videos.
Just passing along my observation.

Pretty spot on assumption. Noy something I'd ignore for too long either. Fairly simple process, just make sure you check where the axle rides the seal. May need to clean up with some emery cloth or even use an axle saver bearing.
Why did you put ceramic brakes on? Are you towing anything on the regular? If so, you should've stayed with semi-met.

Yeah.. it's always recommended that you replace rotors in pairs and new pads on new rotors. Lube up the parking brake levers while you are there.
