trying to locate noise
2004 F150
has a rythmic tick when idling (sounds like a tapping valve)
issue: have developed some type of noise (similar to an exhaust leak), which is only noticable when truck is under load. also, the ticking/tapping will increase with the rate of rpm's.
when trying to pin point loaction of noise while in park or neutral, I am unable to replicate the noise (not noticable)
seems to be coming from right side of truck.
any thoughts?
Thanks

My truck made that noise... really noticeable when in drive-thru line ups with walls beside the truck. The noise stopped when in neutral and park.
A few weeks later my muffler was fully rusted out and the tail pipe disconnected itself. New muffler and no more noise. I guess the noise was from the muffler and tailpipe being barely connected and rattling around.
