So I'm about to pull the trigger on my 6" Zone Lift. However, my truck is about to roll 164k miles. My truck runs fine and I love it but, as I go to click submit order on the lift, the thought runs through my mind... Couldn't my trucks motor just stop tomorrow, or transmission... Just basically am worried about my truck quitting on me right as I buy my lift. Then there goes $1400 down the drain basically. I perform all regular maintaince and stuff. So my question is, would y'all trust ur trucks to put a lift on it with 164k? Or would you just stay leveled w/ 35s like I am currently?

Here's a pic of my truck now:

Lol I don't wanna nother truck tho. I like this one and I can't afford a diesel. Another thing I forgot to add was that its not really a lift saved up for. I'm about to sell my KTM dirt bike for $1700 so that covers my lift and more

You wont ever get the money back from the lift. If you can drop the cash and theres nothing else that needs it go ahead and do it. I regretted lifting my jeep when it came time to sell it. Savings always look good and help for future loans and mortgages

Your truck looks nice just the way it is. Why do you want to do something stupid and screw it up?

Why worry about the engine going? If you plan on keeping the truck just enjoy it and cross the bridges as they come. If the motor goes in 20K miles, well at least you got your moneys worth out of the first one. Swap in a new one and keep on trucking. Im unlike most though, I dont buy trucks and worry about re-sale, I drive them until the wheels fall off then buy another and just enjoy them as I wish along the way.

X2^^^

I fall in the same "rare" camp as kozal01. Keep it till the wheels fall off and never mind worrying about resale value.. If you really like the truck, you will like it even more when its tailored to your wants and or needs...

Dropping a motor, or swapping in a new tranny is going to be inevitable. The process is straight forward and not hard at all, It's actually pretty cheap to do if you can do it yourself too.

The one thing I can say about the 04 - 08 F150 body style, that the newer ones don't entirely have IMHO, is that the look of them is "timeless". By this I mean they won't look dated, weird, and old, in a hurry. I feel the 92 - 96 Ford Broncos also have this same "timeless" appeal. Both styles still look great to this day, especially when there lifted!

Agree with others, don't lift it, looks bad *** already. I also agree about the 04 to 08 body style. I loved it when it came out, and bought my 04 three years ago. I plan to keep the truck forever, and with147k miles it still runs like a raped ape. I will be that guy with the old truck that looks like new. When the engine goes, I will rebuild it or pop a crate motor in and keep trucking.

I just lifted my 05. It has 125k on it. Do what makes you happy. I was in the same boat as you. I said F it and went ahead and did it. I am really happy with my zone lift. Granted it has only been a week, but I wish it was done sooner
