Default trun signal lever buzzing

I have a 2007 F-150 with 110K miles. A few months ago, an intermittent buzzing sound began coming from the steering column - in the vicinity of the turn signal lever. Actuating the lever has no effect and there is no apparent reaction by the lights or instrument panel indicators. It sounds almost like a fly bouncing off a window. I wonder if there is a relay in the column that could be freaking out? Any advice is appreciated.

Did you ever find out what caused this? My 07 f150 is doing the same thing.

Yes, it turned out to be the turn signal module ($140 from rockauto.com) . I noticed that it did not buzz when the turn signal was on (left or right). eventually the right signal would not work unless I held the lever in a position between neutral and right. There are youtube videos on how to change the module. The steering wheel has to be removed.
