Default Headlights stay on 2006 F150

Only way to shut my headlights to shut off is unhook battery.
Other lights don't come on

You can try cleaning the grounds up by the radiator on each side. Could be the switch, but it's usually GEM related. If the truck has leaks and it's been sitting outside in the rain....the problem can show up.

Stock lights or aftermarket HID's?
I had this prob one night with HID's..ended up taking them out and putting stockers back in. worked good after that..Something went screwy. That was an 08 pickup.

Default Do you have the auto lights feature

I have the 05 with the A for auto lights, they shut off and on with the key after a small time delay.
When I first got the truck I was traveling the mountains and hit a bump 20 feet before the tunnel and my lights went out. I was in a panic, could not take my eyes off road or what I believed to be sides of tunnel . I came out the other side okay and went to the berm . It never happened again , I learned quickly where the switch was so I could move it without looking .
I believe it was a jolt to a relay or contact that caused it .
So are you saying that the switch will not shut down lights in off position or just in "A" position . ?
I did not have wiring diagram for a long time so I don't know the circuit very well .

I just ran into this problem on a buddys 2006 f150. turns out that the high beam switch was stuck on, even though the dash did not indicate that the hi-beam lights were on. he fiddled with the turn indicators and flipped the hi-beams on and off, on and off and this turned them off and he was able to then mannually switch the headlights off from A to O. he then rememberd the same issue 4 months ago while driving home at night, the hi-beams were stuck on and it took a bit of jiggling to get it to turn off. (think ace ventura opening his apartment door) he is now looking into getting that whole indicator assembly swapped out.

In the interest of keeping a 2 year old thread alive...

My truck now has the same problem. Low beams stay on all the time unless I disconnect the battery or pull the low beam fuses. Even with the headlight switch in the OFF position. Doesn't matter if the truck is running or not. Doesn't matter if the key is in the ignition or not.

Last night I tried removing the dash mounted headlight switch (Auto, Off, Parking Lights, On) to see if that had a short in it. The headlights stayed on with the switch removed and disconnected from the wiring harness, so it doesn't seem to be a switch problem.

I'm open to suggestions of where to look next...

The high beams seem to work normally. They come on and go off appropriately when I hit the high beam switch on the steering column. No other lights are exhibiting the same issue.
