IMO that's weak to call the sheriff on some dumb kid. Work it out with his mom and if nothing comes from it then call smokey. We don't do stuff like that around here...it aint right to maybe ruin a kids year or maybe even him wanting to use a gun again in his life. But hey that's how we do stuff around here, it obviously worked out for you. BUT on that note I was driving to work one day and some black kid with dreads (thug attire) was standin out front of the motel 6 with a bb gun and shot it at my truck. I slammed on brakes did a 180 degree slide over the median and ran him down. He was about 15 or so and took off into the woods. Luckily he didn't hit the truck or else his *** was mine. I guess I just contradicted myself but I think those are two fairly different situations with this one being off a major highway and that being in a neighborhood.
dilloncawthon is right. I called when I saw no one around. After I got off the phone, the daughter came out to check the mail and that is when we found out that her brother owned the gun. After talking to his mom and when he confessed I realized that I wished I hadn't called the police.
Anyway, I got an estimate today from a few places and they all quoted me around 420 for the repair. There is also a small dent by the handle that was there when I bought it so he really did me a favor. They are going to fix both dents for the price of one. Anyway, she's already paid me and I have an appt for Monday. Looks like everything worked out and she is taking care of him. She told me that the cop just gave her son a good talking too since I didn't press any charges there was nothing he could really do I guess. She told me he will be in trouble for a while so that is good. The damages are going to be fixed, so we are all settle and everything is done.
Thanks for the replies and I am sure that the boy learned his lesson and will think twice before shooting another gun again.
