Truck got mashed!
I was rear ended on the way to work yesterday. The damage isn't to bad, just the bumper and quarter panel. My question is what else should I have them look at? Should I be concerned about the frame or axles?

When you say them do you mean the insurance people? Once it is in the shop if the shop finds additional problems that the insurance did not see they will contact the insurance company. I would not be to worried about frame damage it seems pretty minor.
I want it fixed at the Ford House. I was wondering if they would look at that stuff or if I needed to tell them to. I'm just worried, this is my baby! It is minor and I just need to chill out.
Make sure to look underneath. The bumper mount/trailer hitch could be tweaked as well. It doesnt look too bad. If the Quarter panel didnt crinkle and its only boogered up where the bumper dug into it, its fairly minor.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck with everything. |
You forgot an important detail, make and model of the other car. How did it fare?
i would say if the bumper didnt go in enough to hit the hitch then its only the bumper and the quarter. if it hit the hitch on the other hand have a look over EVERYTHING because the hitch is directly to the frame and if that moved by reasoning so did the frame.

It was actually a 97 F150. It didn"t do so well. His bumper was pushed into the tires and popped one of them. Needless to say, his wasn't drivable afterward.
I hate to say that about a fellow F150, but yeah that's it. I was stopped and he hit me at about 20mph. His was way worse than mine.

the hitch is the bumper brackets for the rear bumper on these trucks. its prob bent, along with teh frame bracket. ive fixed worse, but the bumpers on these trucks are only stamped 16 gauge metal anyways. dont let the insurance company tell you to take it to shop "x" cuz they gaurenntee(sp) their work. its bs and illegal. the shop that they want you to take it to just gives them a big discount. you can take it anywere u dam well please.

Make sure things like your backup camera gets fixed, your LED light bar, etc...
backup sensor not camera ;)
No, he's right. It's an aftermarket backup camera. I used the sensor hole to mount it. It still works, but it's scratched up a bit.
well dang, id make em get a new one!
ahh..sorry to hear about the truck.. looks like the new body style won the fight tho.. too bad that camera didnt have memory you would have had a pretty sweet video to send the insurance to show them the moment where shi*T hit the fan:D....
hope everything works out for you hate to hear when a fellow ford is down |
