Truck died. low oil pressure???
i just bought (2 weeks ago) this 06 xlt supercrew with the 5.4 triton. its awesome!! I bought it used with 80k miles. gettin the windows tinted, tail lights, i put 20" chrome wheels and tires on it, put a new grill on it just today. i absoloutely love this truck.
So my wife goes down a mile to grab some burgers and she says the truck died and the engine lights was on and there was no oil pressure. (but the truck was off so i dunno?)
i get there and look at the oil and its at a good level. turn the key and it doesnt start the 1st time and then the 2nd time it starts up no problem. drove it home with no problems.
so any ideas?

why would you think fuel pump??? just curious you said low oil pressure, i would suspect that for some reason your truck lost oil pressure, and your motor cut off to prevent damage and your wrench light came on which is like a fail safe mode

well my chick said the pressure was low but the truck was dead so of course no pressure. but im thinking what caused it to die. maybe the fuel pump? im not really sure im just throwing out my .02

a good machine should be able to pull a code that came and gone, a checker like autozone would have, cannot do this. i might cost ya 60 bucks, but you will know what is actually needing fixing, not a shot in the dark.

first off change the filter and the oil...before you take it for a code search..the 06-08 tritons control circuits have very sensitive sensors if the oil sending got clogged..it will shut down..once the pressure drops off the switch relay should reset it self..thats probably why it started the second time...get it checked out 80K on an 06 is alot of turns in a short time...more than likely the previous owner if he out that much mileage on it had no time to properly change the oil...take it to a good repair shop to have a dio. done...but beware..the code might just lead you in the wrong direction..

thanks dd. i will do just that. i did notice the oil looked dark and the trip was set on 5k so i imagine that was the last oil change. hopefully that will solve whats going on.
