Truck cranks but wont start
Hello,
So my 2005 F-150 just started having this problem out of the blue.
I was driving it yesterday and there was no problem or indication that anything was wrong.
I parked it at my house and later went out to start it and it wouldn't turn over. It just sits there and cranks. I have full power to all my accessories, there are no errors on the dash and I have good gas. I left it for about 2 hours and came back later in the night to try again, to my surprise it started right up with no problem! I left it running and even took it out in the neighborhood for a little drive to test it out, worked fine like normal. I got it back in my driveway, turned it off and on a few times with no issues. This morning I went out to try and start and now I am back at the same problem! It just cranks but wont turn over?? I have been reading and there has been mention of a bad Fuel Pump Driver Module. Does this sound right for the issues I explained? Anyone else experience this or can help me diagnose this? Its just odd to me that it started right back up again after having the problem, then stopped again.
Any input is appreciated.

Thanks for the info.. I just pulled off the fpdm and the condition of it doesnt look as bad as some of the ones I have seen posted online. Although there is corrosion, I dont see any cracks or anything else cosmetically wrong with it. Now that doesnt mean the insides are good, but most post I seen usually there is visually something wrong. The truck does have 150K on it and this is original, so it could be the issue.

You need the updated version with the stand offs anyway.. Have you checked the fuel filter ?

OP: it's possible that overnight moisture is getting in your FPDM and causing your no start. Once it dries out - she fires right up.

I tried a new fpdm and that didn't work, I have also tried a new fuel filter with the same result. Next is the fuel pump, I'm going to test today by taking off the in-line on the new filter I just installed and turn the key so the pump should prime and see if gas comes out of the line. I am hoping that's a suitable test to see if my pump is the issue.

This just happened to a member on another forum. Turned out to be a bad crank sensor. The ECM didn't throw a code because with a bad sensor it didn't know the engine was running/not running...
