You are correct, I was worried about scrapping the "linex" that was sprayed onto it years ago when purchased. Thats why I didn't ask him to much it up more.

Beer, Boats, and Trucks.
Nice! I would have done the same. 2 days ago I had 2250 lbs of plywood in the bed of my truck. Most I've had was 2400 lbs of pellets. Just drive smart and be observant, no issues.

I don't think anyone can say how well it worked out for some time.
...
... What is really supporting that load at any given instant is a couple or three little hardened steel roller bearings on each side that are about 1/4 inch in diameter.
All it takes is one little chip flake off one and start grinding up other rollers and the race. ...

He didn't hurt his truck. I was in the tile business for 21 years, and I overloaded every truck I ever owned, almost daily. I didn't hurt any of them, except for a few extra brake jobs, until I bought a F250. Well on second thought, some of them sit a little low, when I sold them, but that was after several years of working them hard.
One thing I liked about the Econolines, you could put a pallet of tile right in the center of the van.

Yeah. She's going to be low, but she shouldn't bottom out. If you are going to go over 45 miles an hour try and think of any dips along the way. If there is a bad one you might bottom out. Good luck! This is why we have trucks!

As I said before, I would NOT have attempted this, BUT as a young kid I had a 79 ford explorer F100. I made plenty of trips with that truck with full pallets of sod. And I remember the motor straining a little bit with those, and it was the 302. That was the only thing I wanted to know this time around - how my 4.6 would handle it. And it worked flawlessly.
