If the tune is written correctly all is good including the trans and can improve shift points and result in less trans stress. But agsin, depends upon if the tune is written properly.

Can they tell if I had a tuner? Will it come up on diagnostics?

Holy crap! What kind of loads are you hauling? I have 180,000km on mine. I haul a heavy trailer daily and mine still works great.

Well we didn't pull anything with this truck. At most we'd have a ton of dirt in the back that's it. The first tranny that ford put it, was messed up so 10k miles they put in the second trans and a radiator in and they ate the bill for both. That was around when the truck had 20-30k miles. Then around 90k that trans went. Didn't go to ford this time, the guy at a small shop put a brand new trans in. So all good at almost 110k miles now.

My trans went out at 75k, flushed one at 45k in the dealer, it never overheat, trans fluid was always clear red. Seems that the torque converter went bad and sent shavings everywhere. $2500 to fix it at Aamco, they even hd to replace the trans case. It took a day or two in the shop

Christ. I hope I never run into this. I guess it's a hit or a miss sometimes.

I have not heard of tuners actually causing trans failure/wear unless the person is really jacking with it. But, I have heard that tuners will indeed bring to the forfront problems/weak points that are already existent. As for the warranty issue and having a tuner, that has been discussed to death and the answers are all over the place. Some say yes, some say no. To be on the safe side, put it back to stock and pull the tuner out of the truck if you are that worried about it.
