Default Transmission rumors...

i have a supercrew XLT 4X4 stepside, not that that has much to do with anything, but i have heard that when I put a 2 1/2 " leveling kit with 35's on my truck, i could possibly have alot of trouble with my transmission. Is this true, and if it is,what can i do to prevent buying a new transmission down the road?

anytime you put bigger tires on and leave the stock gearing, you will make the transmission work harder. basically the transmission life is shortened due to the constant shifting searching for power, however with smart driving, i wouldn't worry alot about it. i have 3.55's gear for the last 17k miles and zero problems.

i forget to add, if you tow alot, you will rip out that transmission in no time, but if you are easy on it, not alot to worry about. i have had an edge turing on level 2 the whole time also, just firms up the shifts, helping with slippage and less heat. if you do have problems, then you do, can't really predict it, ya know

good point, unless you already have the tow package, then you already got one.
