Default Transmission help!

Hello All, I have a 07 F150 Harley Davidson with 35k on it. Bought it two months ago. I have previously owned Powerstroke Super Duties.

My issues is that there seems to be some sort of delay when I attempt to down shift both while at cruising speeds and even during a steady acceleration when I decide to gun it. It seems to be pretty significant. I also notice that if I go WOT to the top end of the RPM range you can really hear the motor going but once I let off the accelerator, it does not immediatly climb down but stays steady. It actually takes a few seconds for it to start dropping RPM.

Is it just in my head? I checked tranny fluid. It is actually on the high side (above the hash marks).

Thanks for the replies.

I assume it's the computer controlling the throttle to limit impact on the transmission during shifts, allowing for softer shifts for passenger comfort.

I'm hoping so. Sounds like a tuner would surely be the fix...or in another words, an improvement. BTW, as I noted below I checked the tranny level which was above the cross hash marks when warm. With the engine warm and while idleing, I wound up syphoning almost a quart to get it in between the cross hash marks. I verified its range after running a little while longer up and down the highway going through all the gears and checking again.

I'm sure some no name oil lube chain "topped" off the fluids and probably didn't use a Mercon V or equivalant fluid. I may go and have the whole thing flushed.

Lastly, is it normal to hear some gear noise while in first?

Thanks again for the replies. I am somewhat of a worry wart. Been driving nothing but beaters all my life and now that I am finally moving up, I have seemed to have developed this worry complex.

Is your HD AWD? If it is, that may be contributing to the first gear noise.

No it is not. At least I did not find anything on the Window Sticker or VIN decoder stuff to determine this. Where else can I look to verify?

My 2005 5.4 is bone stock and the tranny acts exactly like HD4Evr's. I'm afraid I'm going to screw something up. What does the tuner do for the transmission? Which tuner works well and where can I get one?

If it's all wheel drive, you'll have a front driveshaft from the transfer case to the front differential, and CV shafts coming from the center of the wheels into the front differential.
