Transmission Fault Message after dropping Transmission
07 F150 with the 5.4 L engine. Just got the flex plate installed and the transmission, transfer case and driveshaft all put back together. We reattached all of the electrical connections. I started it up and let it idle, everything seemed good. Once I backed it out of the stall, I got a "Transmission Fault" message along with the "O/D OFF" light flashing on the dash. I checked my OBD II code reader and it gives me fault code - U1950. Internet search of that code doesn't really help but may point to a faulty module or connection. Any ideas?

Did you press the button at the end of the gear selector (if column shift)? The turns on/turns off the overdrive. It may be that you have two seperate faults, and the overdrive lamp in the cluster will turn off when you press the button.
If you have a center console and shift arrangement, then I believe the OD switch is at the shifter there.

When I push the O/D button on the end of the selector, there is no change. During normal operation, the O/D light stays on, now the light is flashing.
I will check all of the connections when I can get it on the lift.
Thanks.

During normal operations the OD light should be "off" ! this gives you a 4 speed tranny.

That is correct. What I meant to say is that when the O/D off button is pushed, the light burns steadily when functioning normally. Now, the light is flashing continuously.
Sorry about the confusion.

It's flashing to inform you of a fault.. like a flashing CEL.

I put it back on the lift and reseated all of the electrical connectors. Of course, the last one I checked, was not completely seated. Once I reseated it and drove it, all faults gone and truck runs and shifts great! Added bonus, "O/D off" even works as it should.
Thanks again for the help.
