Tranny Temps
#11
Sorry guys this dosnt have to do with temps for me but I am just about to do a gear swap with 37s, black05, is 4.56 enough gearing for 37s? Or should you have done 4.88? I want to still be able to hit 100 and have fun every once in a while but iv heard you have no top end power with 4.88s, but on the other side I'd like to be able to spin the tires, can you do this with the 4.56s?

I do know that it don't downshift so bad on hills as bad as it used to a lot less strain on my tranny. mine could probably use a flush soon too. you could do your flush and install a mag-hytec high capacity tranny fluid pan that may lower temps a bit I'm not sure how much they are but my I paid like 200 for my rear diff cover I think can't remember but it holds 2 more quarts

I can still hit 100 and no I can't spin the tires by just punching it off the line but I can power brake it and boil them over pretty good the reason I went with 4.56 over 4.88 is because I drive the interstate and highways a lot and you will get better mpg because you won't be running as high of rpms. my truck still feels sluggish off the line it always has been even with 35s I guess it's just the truck lol. but at like a 30 or 40 roll if I punch it it's not to bad it gets up and goes

I know the thread went off topic from trans temps, but I thought I'd throw my stocker's out there: i run between 155-160 on the highway at 75mph in South Texas.
edit: Ah, never mind. I have a 4R70, not a 75.
