Default Tpms sensor with aftermarket rims

Hey guys I am wondering what you have all done with your aftermarket rims and the tpms sensors. Did you buy new ones or just put a valve stem in and have your light stay one. I hear we can't reuse the sensor due to the band. I have a 08 XLT. Thanks for any help you can offer

You can re-use the sensors ...not the bands. all you need to do is buy a new set of bands and have them swap your old sensors and cradles over to your new wheels...the OEM bands new to be cut to remove them...new ones are re-usable.

Sweet so all I need to do is buy new bands. I have been told about the tpms bombs I thought about doing that but if all I need is bands I may just do that. Thanks for the input. How are the sensors held on?

They attach to the cradle and the band holds the cradle

Ok so if I get bands that's all I need? I haven't had my tire off so I don't know way it looks like in the rim or how the are held on.

Yes...the new bands are like a bid hose clamp...loops through the cradle ...just make sure the install the cradle's and sensors at 6 O'clock from the valve stem, like in your old wheels.

you can use oro-tek valve stem style sensors as well if you want to leave your old sensors in the wheels if you are buying new tires. But it was a PITA for me to get mine to work....see my thread I started on the subject for more info
