Default Towing - Tranny Cooler?

I will soon enough, but can I get away with towing a 6x10 Pace Enclosed trailer at 2000lb in he mean time? My 08 F150 xlt 4.6 V8 Auto does not have a towing package. Can't seem to find the correct answer. Yes, I know that if I' have to ask then I need one. Fair enough. But is 2000lb light enough that the truck won't struggle?
Thanks.
Tony

"UPDATE"

Took a closer look under the truck and I believe I do have a tranny cooler fitted. Long silver cooler that I mistook for a power steering cooler since on some trucks I've seen the long silver cooler along with a shorter black cooler. So I answered my own question.
Thanks for the input guys.
Tony.

Well it depends... How far, what kind of terrain, and what speeds... If you are talking just down the road 1 or 2 times a month then I can see it not being that big of deal... But if we are talking every day 200-300 miles going to Tahoe from Sacramento (lots and lots of steep hills) then spend the small amount of $$$ for the peace of mind... I think the truck will handle that amount of weight just find but as for the trans, it depends...

There are a few other towing threads created recently and I think it was Bucko posted a part number for a pretty inexpensive setup...

I replaced the small stock tranny cooler on my truck and replaced it with 2 Heavy Duty Tranny coolers after it passes through the radiator.

I also installed an engine oil cooler (bottom) where the old tranny cooler used to be.

I also did vent gauges for both tranny and engine oil.

I tow a 28' RV (about #5000) and like knowing the tempatures etc.

You can by the Rousch vent gauge holders they use for mustangs. They fit 2004 and up F150s. Got my 2 on ebay.

What kind of temps are you showing on the trans? Interested in seeing how much cooler it runs.

I rarely see the gauge come off of 120 degrees (needle rest) unless I am towing and sitting in stop and go traffic. It has never been past 160 degrees. As soon as start a steady pace, the temps go back below 120 degrees.

I also installed E-fans which pulls a lot more air through the coolers at a stop. This will help with the standing temps too.
