Default Towing setup with 04 F150 long box

does anyone has any experience setting up the Weight Distribution Hitch on an 04 F150 XLT ? i followed the instructions but i can't get the front and rear to lower equally ( or approx equally ). The rear axle of the truck squatted about 2" while my front rased about 1/4", which doesn't make sense at all.

My trailer is a 28', with dry weight of approx 4700lbs.

Anyone has any experience or pointers to help with the setup? is it because i have a long box ? Also i noticed there are 2 hitch pin holes at the facctory receiver ( one is closer to the front, while the other is closer to the trailer ); does it make a difference which one i use?

thanks in advance for any info.

i dont have a long bed but i dont see why that would make a difference but when i hook up my camper i drop the trailer on to the ball and lock it on and then use the jack on the trailer to raise the back of the truck up untill its level and then i will grab as many leveling bar chain links as i can and the truck will sit level.

The leveling bars help to level your truck and trailer. Due to all the weight on the toungue, the back of the truck sags a bit under load. This fixed that using the hitch instead of suspension fixes.

Here ya go... It is mounted to the hitch only. It's a cool concept.

the bars going from the hitch all the way under the the trailer tongue, then is connected to the trailer with the chains

Speaking of towing, I want to put a hitch on my 2002 F150. I'll probably go to a boneyard and unbolt a decent one. Any idea what years are interchangeable?
