Is your 4.6L 2v or 3v?

It's a 2008 so it can only be a 2v.

My 4.6 3V did just fine towing heavy loads with a 3.55. But I don't know about the 2V. I towed a 1995 F150 on a Uhaul car trailer with no problem. Averaged 13 mpg with that load.

Let me get this straight, you want to tow this trailer 400 miles one way twice a week to go ride your toys in the dirt? If this is so, scrap all your plans and go buy something with a diesel engine.

Now if you're going 400 miles round trip every two weeks, then just take it easy and let the truck work. Expect the transmission to run in 2nd and 3rd a lot. I think it will struggle, but it will get there eventually. I'd expect single digits for mileage and be happy if I saw 10.

I will only be towing once every two weeks down to WV, not twice a week. I wish I had that much time Anyway, I have decided to possibly purchase an Edge EVO Dash Programmer and Pod along with a Volant Cold Air Intake. I heard of possible issues of running lean with this set-up? Is this something I need to be concerned about and is it still an issue without custom tunes? I know my stock intake is choking the truck up a bit from what I have been reading.

Just brought the 7x16 Atlas enclosed home with the 2008 4.6L. Truck tows surprisingly well so far even on some steep grades. Looking to put roughly 1200-1500lbs in it for our trips. Truck barely sags at all too which in nice! I love the torsion axle suspension on the trailer which was a pricey option!
