Default Tow Mirror Electrical Problem

New to the forum and I've seen this topic just about beaten to death but I thought my problem was a little different. I recently bought tow mirrors for my 2007 Ford F150 XLT supercab off of Amazon( maybe that was the problem) but anyway. My stock mirrors just had power adjust but there was the dome light wire in the plug also (black with blue stripe). The mirrors I bought had power adjust, heat, turn signals and puddle lights. I spliced into the turn signals and ran them to the connector and got turn signals working also power mirror is working. For some reason my puddle lights are not working. I used a voltmeter and theres power in the plug but it seems the mirror isn't getting the power. The mirrors are exactly like oem Ford ones. If anyone has any insight to the problem I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks ahead!

Have you checked the pin on the mirror to make sure it is the correct pin for the puddle mirrors?

I'm fairly sure it is the right one but I will look into it. I pulled the puddle lamp out of the bottom of the mirror and the puddle lamp is spliced into a black wire and a white wire. In the mirror plug it shows the white wire going into the puddle lamp wire coming from the truck. Would swapping the white and black wire in the mirror do the trick?

I would test to see if there is any resistance from the pin to the wire at the puddle lamp. If it shows nothing then its the wrong wire. Also do they have LED or incandescent bulbs in the puddle lamps? LEDs are polarity sensitive.

Puddle lamps are regular incandescent bulbs

If you search here, you'll see that the outside mirror pinouts changed within years of our 2004 to 2008 models. So when buying vendor mirrors that state "fits 2004 to 2008" they are true, but the pinouts for the wiring to specific years may have changed. I know there was a ground wire difference between these years; there may have been a puddle lamp pin difference too. Since everything else is working, you have the ground correct, now you just have to identify the puddle lamp pin, and match it up with the connector.

You will need to locate the pinout assignments for you're year truck ( I put one out for a 2007) a year or so ago), and then identify the pin for the puddle lamp on the mirror, and check that against your connector in the wiring.

Read this thread. It's for a 06 but I used this thread when installing them on my 05. http://www.f150online.com/forums/art...s-04-08-a.html
