Default Tow Mirror Caps

This is a dumb question, but do all mirrors for our trucks have mirror caps? I want red mirror caps to match my truck, but If I have some I would rather paint my own than buy new ones. However, I don't even know if mine have existing caps since they are the cheap, manual ones. Here are pics of my mirrors.

I have the same tow mirrors to. I just tapped of the part I wanted painted and sanded it then painted it and clear took about 8 hours.

Looks great! So are you saying we dont have removable mirror caps? What grit sand paper did you use? What kind of paint and clear? Do you have an actual paint gun or did you use spray paint? Some people are really good with spray paint.

The mirror caps are removable on all tow mirrors. You have to remove the mirror glass to get the cap off. You must be pretty careful removing the glass because it's easy to break if you don't take your time and be careful. Ask me how I know. I just dropped mine off at my local body shop and they did them for free

Does anyone know of a place to buy spray paint that matches the color of my truck? Is there a website or something?

The local O'rileys has PTM paint in spray paint cans. I think a lot of auto parts stores carry it, not too sure though.

they actually make caps that are for painting, which i think are smooth instead of bumpy. I actually bought the chrome caps and it is a PIA to get the glass out.

AutoZone has the paint for matching. What grit sand paper did y'all use?

I think I am just going to sand the existing caps and tape off the rest of the mirror so I don't have to take out the glass because I will probably break the glass anyways.
