Tow mirror buying issues. Please help!

Im looking at buying tow mirrors for my 2008 f-150 XLT. My truck does not have turn signals on the mirrors but the tow mirrors im looking at do. Would the turn signals work on the truck?

no, not without doing some wiring

Ok so it would not be already ready?

Doubtful. The XLT models are most likely not pre-wired for that. What options (if any) do your current outside mirrors have?

My STX did not come with power mirrors (power "nothing" actually!), but I installed a set of tow mirrors that came off of a truck with power adjust, turn signals, and puddle lights. None of that of course works, but I am able to adjust the mirrors manually by pushing on the glass. No big deal for me.

If your good with wiring, you can buy the mirror harness, then run the wiring through the door and make all that stuff work. A factory wiring book will help you out.

I added tow mirrors to my 04 xlt and it was prewired for turn signals and heated mirrors(came with neither of those from factory). I did have to switch 2 terminals on the mirror side of the plug to get them to work because they were for an 09+.

Just go to Etrailer.com and buy the mirror extentions. They look like they are from the factory, take seconds to install and work perfect. Pull my 29 foot travel trailer and can see everything behind me just fine. When done, simply unsnap them from your original mirrors and you're done. The ones I chose were about $40 bucks.

This may work for some, but the full "vertical sized" tow mirrors can't be beat! Once you install a set, you'll never want anything else for rear view access.

+1

Love my tow mirrors. Great view and love how they look.

Plug them in and see if the signals work?

My 06 XLT has signals and heat, the tow mirrors I installed also have puddle lights, when installed the puddle lights don't work, but all the functions I originally had (such as power) still work. However, the light on the mirror heater switch blinks when I use the turn signal...
