Touch up painting - pearl tri-coat

i have a pearl white F150. It’s got the pearl finish tri coat.

Has anyone tried to do this themselves? From my understanding, I’d need primer, white matching, pearl finish and clear coat. Sounds to me like there’s an additive needed for the paint and pearl coats too. Meaning, I’d need a spray gun too.

Paint shop quoted me ~200 for a quart of each.

This seems astronimically high in regards to price and effort for patching running boards and a little bit of rust showing through the wheel well.

Am I over complicating? Are there cheaper options?

I have on 08 Limited. I think it's the same paint system. I bought a tube of base touch up from the dealer. Counter guy said it's a two-part system. It looks terrible.

$200 for a quart of each. If thats 4 quarts thats $800. I would get a quote for the shop to do it, maybe it's in the same ballpark?

I tried some of this. I am no paint guy so i im not sure if i did it right. It does not look like original but better than a chipped spot. The paint seemed to match i just couldn't get it like a bodyshop could. I was told 3-4k to repaint the whole truck due to tricoat.

Sweet! I had no idea this type of small volume tri-coat touch up system even existed! I'm ordering this and giving it a shot. Thanks

Just found this on amazon. Other options there, as well:

I got the two part touch up paint from Ford. I followed the instructions on using both ends of the bottle and got a satisfactory result.
