Default Took vacuum hose off now brakes hard to push

I googled for an answer but I must not be using the proper queries.

I have a vacuum leak some where that is causing the truck to run like crap (ran tons of test and replaced many other parts, so im assuming its the issue)..

i took the main vacuum hose off earlier to attempt a smoke test, and put it right back on.

Ever since then the break pedal has been very hard to push down. I guess the air pressure in the vacuum line is all weird now.

is there a way to resolve this? breaks were fine immediately before i took the hose off.

thanks

sounds like you found the vaccume leak.
had a leak before booster hose came off (brakes ok)
put the booster hose back on (leak still there but hard pedal?)

What did the smoke test show you?

I did use the break booster hose for the leak test. Test didn't show me anything, didn't seem to suck much smoke if any out of the jar, and i couldn't see smoke come out of anywhere. I put a bag around the air filter so that it couldn't suck air in from there.

so you're thinking the break booster hose probably has the leak? I dont see any noticeable holes on the hose.

This leak is driving my nuts and every mechanic i go to seems to ignore a vacuum leak as the possibility although the own engine error codes i get are p0171 p0174 and other lean idle codes. and they run other tests which all end up being fine. Fuel pressure everything is fine and remains after the truck is shut off. changed some sensors, such as the FPDM and didnt help anything.

why don't you put the booster hose back on, and introduce the smoke from another vaccume line to see if it leaks out of the brake booster hoses.?

post up a pic of your underhook setup and booster hose lines

Im guessing you meant underhood.

I just took the hose off and inspected it, all is fine, unless there is a leak on the hard hose going down behind the engine.

I live out in the country so alot of dust.

damn. i think i found the leak.

Its the IWE hose that EVERYONE with this engine and year of truck seems to have issues with.

At least I believe its the IWE hose. plugs in behind the engine.

no idea how im gonna get this plugged back in....

took me a few hours but i finally got the hose back on the back. cut my hand up.

But now I can hear a hiss coming from the area where the brake booster hose is, took that hose back off to inspect, no holes in it, must be some where else.

got dark out so i had to stop

Okay, The damn hose on the other side of the rear intake manifold that goes to the break booster is off as well. son of a ****.

Odds that both of these real intake manifold hoses... the hardest ones to get to.... would both come off?

can see how my hand is already jacked up from reattaching the other hose. my right hand is much worse lol

at least i know what it is now.
