I would love to roll some 35’s but I was told that they are pretty hard on the front end of the truck. Is this true? I am pretty much have my mind set on some BFG’s. Is there a significant difference between the 305/65/17 and the 285/70/17? Is it worth the extra money to invest in the 305’s?

You'll be fine running 35s on these trucks. Most poeple say that the problems start when you go over 38s and start running 40s.

I have a 2004 FX4 S crew with a 2" level that is close to needing new tires.

I want to get a wheel and tire package for around $1,300.00. Right now it has stock 18" but I want to go smaller rims because of tire prices. I can't find any 16" rims that are 6 on 135. So I think I have settled on 17".

The problem I am having is that I know what I want it to look like, just don't know what to buy and don't want to be disapointed with the look or lack of fit. I have saved up a long time...like 3 years.

I want to have the tires poke out the fender well at least 2"

What I am looking at are Pro Comp 1069 rims they are backspaced 4.75 and have a -6mm offset 17" high 9" wide.

Tires are Pro Comp XTerrain All Terrain 305/65's These will give me a footprint of 10-11 inches and a height of almost 32.6".

Will this give me what I am looking for?

 

you can't buy rims in 16" for the 6x135 bolt pattern, won't fix because of the brakes

 

What does a 33X12.5" tire convert to?

 

i did the 2.5 inch leveling kit on my 2004 fx4 with an 18x9 wheel and a 33x12.50r18 tire an i have plenty of extra room, no rubbing at all. could have fit 35's easy

 

I dont understand why you say this will rub bad on his.
did you not say in the post that with a level and 9 inch wide with 4.5-5.5 backspacing you can run 35x12.50 isn't that what he is asking.

 

i saw some comments about how the 3 in leveling kit is hard on the front end.....I just purchased the 3 in one two days ago for my 2004 fx4 and then read this thread today......how bad is it for them? and what does it do the truck?
