Just wanted to add to this reference thread with my specs. Zero trimming. Zero rubbing.

2.5" Hell Bent Steel leveling kit. (Stock rear block)
18" X 9" +20mm offset Fuel Vector wheels (5.79" backspacing)
295/70/18 Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx tires

Factory backspacing is 5.98" with a 7.5" wide wheel and +44mm offset, which would translate to a 25mm offset for a 9" wide wheel. So, my new wheels have 3/16" less backspacing than factory, and my tires stick out of the wheelwells 1 3/8" more than stock. The clearance photos were taken at the two closest points between the tire and the valance and the rear portion of the fender flare while turning the wheel.
Looks great! Please tell me what you think about the ST Maxx, particularly how they handle on wet pavement and in the mud. Trying to decide between them and the Ridge Grappler in the same size, 295/70-18. Not a ton of choices in that size but those two seem to get mostly great reviews.

The 2004 I just bought came with 265/70-17 AT tires, but I switched to 245/75-17 highway tires LT tires, General Grabbers.

It was easy to find plenty of used ones, they come stock on F-250. Kind of weird how the recommended sizes for F-150 are 235/75-17 and 255/70-17, they skip right over 245/75-17 which is 2% taller and not unusually wide....which kills steering feel and mpg.

I know people on this thread aren't looking at stock-ish +0 LT tires, but whatever...the difference on hwy is night and day.

Here's the 265s...

I am currently running 325/65R18 Nitto Terra Grapplers. I have been very pleased with these tires and have gotten about 63000 miles out of them and they still have decent tread. They have been Nitrogen filled from day one, one can argue if it matters or not but I've never had to adjust the pressure in over 5 years so, that alone seems like it'd extend the life of thee tire.

I'm about to purchase a new set of tires and most likely will go with the G2 Terra Grapplers since the first ones served me so well. I do have a couple of questions though.

I'd like to free up a little space in the fender wells, just for appearance sake, so I'd considered going with a 325/60/R18. Does this seem like it'd make much of a difference? Are there any other tires that might be recommended as an equivalent to these?

I'd love to go with a more aggressive tread pattern but, this is my daily driver and I do drive a good bit and I need to get as many miles as possible out of the tires so, I'm not willing to sacrifice longevity simply to gain cosmetics (as much as I'd like to).

Any input would be appreciated as I plan to purchase a new set in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks

I have picked out the exact same wheels in 18x9, only I'm thinking of getting the +1mm offset (5.0" backspace)

I want to run the Nitto 35x12.5x18 Ridge Grapplers, which are a hair bigger than your Coopers....According to Cooper's website, your tires are 34.25" in diameter and 12" wide....The Nittos are 34.76" in diameter and 12.52" wide. That is .5" more in diameter and .5" wider than the Coopers you are running. Since my wheels will be .79" out further (5.0" backspace vs your 5.79") do you think I will rub the fender or UCA? Will that half inch in diameter or width make a difference? Could I get away with these slightly bigger tires on the same rim offset as yours?

I don't want to have the tires too far out. The outer sidewall of my tires would be almost exactly 1" out further than what you have done.....Is that too much in your opinion? Can you perhaps take a pic looking down the side of your truck that shows how much the tires stick out? Would it also be possible to take a pic of showing the tire to UCA clearance?

Thanks
Sorry for the late reply. Stock 7.5" wheel backspacing is 5.98" with a +44 offset. That is the same as a +25 offset on a 9" wheel. They claim that a tire of the size you are wanting will fit a stock rim without rubbing, but since I went just a touch smaller, I cannot confirm it. If so, a +25 offset 9" wheel would locate in the same position as a factory wheel and not rub. Remember, changing the offset changes the arc that the wheel turns on. The less offset you have, the greater the chance of rubbing the fender well or valance.

One word of advice, you can always use a spacer on a wheel that has too much positive offset, but you cannot add offset to a wheel that has too much negative. I feel that it is better to err on the side of caution and go with plenty of positive offset.

I will say that I now get crud slung up onto the body that I didn't get before due to the tires sticking out more. If you go with the same +20 offset that I did with your bigger tires, You shouldn't rub the valance, but you may barely rub the bottom, rearward part of the front fender flare where it makes the skinny lip inside the wheel well (if that makes sense.) If so, you can trim that off. You can get the +20mm Fuel Vector for $145 with free shipping at a couple of places. Can you get the +1mm that cheap?

I went with the S/T Maxx since it is a hybrid between a street and mud tire. I haven't had a chance to test it in either rain or mud yet. My daily driver is a Jeep Cherokee with 32" BFG KO2's. I love those tires, but they don't come in a 295/70/18, so I had to go with the Coopers. I've read great reviews on Cooper tires, so I'm sure I'll have no complaints.

Hey guys, I would appreciate any help. This may have been answered, but I can't get the search function to work.

I have an '06 King Ranch SCREW with the stock 20" wheels. I installed a HBS 3" level this last week, and ordered some TOYO Open Country A/T II Radials in 35/12.5/20. I tried to get them installed today, but they wouldn't even come close to fitting. The shop put the old tires back on before I returned, but they told me the tires hit the UCA with even the slightest turn and it was in no way drivable.

I'd like to keep these tires since I just spent $1500 on them, but don't really want to dump too much more into the truck right now. I'm about $4k deep the past couple of weeks and the wife is about to kill me.

Anyway, what options do I have for getting them to fit? Will a wheel spacer work to push me far enough away from UCA to make it work? I've never used spacers before; are there any other clearance issues I need to consider? Will they push the tire out far enough that it will hit the fender? I ended up ordering a set of 1.5" hub centric billet spacers this afternoon in hopes they would help.

Any advice appreciated.

1.5" spacers worked for me.

Running 325/50r22's on +44mm offset stock wheels.

Had to cut a bit of wheel well away, but the spacer pushed it away from the upper control arm enough to run those bigger tires

Here's where I trimmed

Sweet. Looks almost exactly like where I had to trim to run 38s on my last truck, so no worries there. I hope this set works. Thank you for the info.
