Tire weight difference, Please Help
Hello! Zane here, new to the forums.
So I have a 2005 Supercab and I have the 305/55R20 Cooper Zeon tires on now. I've loved the tires and had have them for over 2 years (about 40,000 miles) and want to put on something else on.
I've been looking and I've decided on Nitto Trail Grapplers (Same size) and the only difference is .12 bigger in circumference. But then I researched more and noticed. They are 16 pounds heavier than my Coopers.
I was wondering what your opinion is? Does 16 pounds heavier on each tire make a huge difference? Should I worry about transmission, axle, etc?
If it helps I have -12mm Fuel Krank wheels on now. Because I have Camburg 2.5s and a-arms and i don't want them to rub and the arms.
So do you think 16 pounds on each tire will do anything? I know it will, but should I worry about any factors?

extra weight will be harder on fuel in town driving for sure, and it will put a little more strain on the trans and diff's. some guys re gear to compensate for bigger heavier tires and it brings the performance back to where it was before too

I have Nitto Terra Grapplers and they certainly are heavy. I was going from the stock tires (29" x 9" or so) to the Nittos (34" x 12"). So mine were more than 16 pounds extra per tire but I lost around 150 KM per full tank of fuel. So it is defiantly noticeable. But would drive a leveled truck with 29" tires? Surely not me!
The theory for tires around our diameter is that for every pound of rotating mass (your tires/rims), is worth 5 pounds of dead weight (stuff in the bed). So you have 16 pounds x 4 tires = 64 lbs extra x 5 = 320 lbs. So your tires are the equivalent of driving around with 320 pounds in the back of your truck all day long.
For what its worth, my next set of tires will be 33 x 11 won't be the crazy 10 ply E-rated Nittos. I want some mileage back!
