Default Tire question!

I have 20 x9 KMC Rockstar Rims and I need help deciding on tire size and brand either nitto or bfg or toyo and other suggestions will also be heard

For sizes I am thinking either 275 65 20 or 305 55 20.

Will 275 65 20 work? I know 305 55 20 will work. these are the tires i already have on the wheel.

and I know bfg all terrians very well i have had them on every truck i have ever owned and they have been nothing but good to me.

But Nittos and toyo are so cheap!!!

My tire usage will mainly be highway and snow. But occasionally sand dunes and some mudding for my off roading.

Have you looked at the sticky titled "Tire and wheel fitment guide for 04-08" (top of the forum) for this? I should have your answer.

275/65/20 is a 34 inch tire, Im assuming you have an fx4 since its in your name, so if its leveled it may work depending upon the backspacing of your rims, if its not leveled then im pretty sure you'll get some rubbing out of a 9in wide rim. When you go to the tire shop ask for a test fit, they will usually do it for pretty cheap or if you can haggle with them you might be able to get it for free since you are buying tires regardless.

Go look at the Goodyear DuraTracs....I just put them on in the 305/55/20 and are great on both the snow and highway. They are one of the few agressive tires that are snow rated. I love mine and got to test them out in about 7 inches this last weekend, never once had a problem. They say they are 33.4 inches but mounted and aired up we measured them closer to 33.6. Can't wait to get them in the mud!

I went thru the same issue trying to decide between the two sizes. Ended up going with the 275-65-20. The actual size is about a 34x10.5 I didn't really want the tire sticking out any.

I have a two inch level installed. Hopefully they test fit for me for relatively cheap! Thanks JohnD

JRM do your tires stick out past your stock 20 inch wheel size or not really? If you could take a side picture of the tire that would be great! I already saw the other picture on your profile

Also an FYI... Discount tire shiped my tires to the store and test fit both the front tires for free (I dont have leveling shocks on yet). Not sure what your looking to spend but they wanted $400 a piece for them, found them online for $335 and they matched and didnt charge for shipping. Free lifetime Balance and rotation. They have a customer for life with me.

If your doing most paved driving and snow def go with the Dura Tracs. They have awesome ratings compared similar tires.

I just got a set of 305/55/20 as well. They are siped so much better in the rain/snow. Get some siped tires for sure if you plan on doing rain and def snow driving. Tires like the new Trail Grappler for example won't do well in the snow up against the siped tires like the Dura Tracs.

Here are some pics of mine.....more in my album.
