WRONG......the factory bands have to be cut off to remove the sensors...unless you want to buy new sensors for your new wheels they need to come off.

the sensor just snap in an out of the bands. i remeber doing a set on a mustang cause a guy went from 17 to 18's and i just dismounted the old tires and placed the sensors into the new 18 (they were factory 18's)

Does the sensor clip in that cradle pretty tight? Seems like it could fall out over time.

When did Ford start putting these on the trucks? The guy I bought the rims from claims his truck never had the TPMS. I find this weird because they are both 07's. Only difference is, his is an XLT and mine is an XL.

2007 18" Chrome Lariat. And you're right, new bands are needed for the new rims but the stock bands can stay on the stock rims and be re-used with a new tpms sensor. Once the stock band is removed, it can't be reused.

Yes, it fits tight. I'll try to post a close-up pic from a different angle later. If you notice the cradle that the band is through, it's basically a U shape. On one side of the U, it comes up and looks like and upside down J, essentially creating a hook. The TPMS sensor is placed in that side under the hook first and then when you press it down on the other side of the U, it snaps in place. Not sure when Ford starting putting them in these trucks, but I read somewhere that any vehicle newer than a certain year (I'm thinking 20xx) is supposed to have these installed. I actually didn't know I had them until last winter when my tire pressure dropped below 28 psi, my dash light came on. Kinda pissed me off in a way because I knew it was going to cost me extra $$ when I put my new rims on to get them swapped over.
