Is that right?
If your truck comes with Pmetric's that call for 40 psi in your door then you put a slightly larger 10 ply tire on your truck that calls for 65-80 psi then your door specs are irrelevant.

So then what would the general rule be for how much pressure u should use in a tire? I just ordered 305/65-18's for my truck. Where do I find the specs for those tires on my truck?

It's the BFG a/t. They say max load 3525 @ 65 psi. I think they are 10 ply

If max pressure is 65psi then 60-65 will be fine. If you tow alot or carry alot of weight go with 65.

Looking for input on tire pressure, my situation is almost exactly as "OldsMansTruck" described above.

Stock (Goodyear) LT tires that came on the truck call for 40psi on the door. I'm replacing them with 285/65r18 wildpeaks. Max psi on the tire is 65psi. New tires are D/8 rated.

What does everyone recommend I set the pressure too? Also, if driving the truck in 1 foot of snow do people air down their tires or keep them at same pressure as normal street driving (unloaded bed)?

Why does every one have a problem with recommended pressure [door sticker]? this will allow truck to carry loads up to GVWR without harm. for snow and ice leave them at recommended pressure lower pressure for off road use.

You know I have read and studied this. Seems like max pressure minus 10% seems to work well. Best mileage, tire wear but will hurt ride a little bit.
