ok I did as you said I removed the cam. Question is are the ok or do I need new ones truck is at 200k miles
really the way to know is to measure them and check against tolerance, but I assure you the aluminum wears more than the chromed cam journals. so it was mine I think I would polish lightly with scotch brite pad or sand paper and if reinstall.
The rule of thumb is scoring that doesnt catch a fingernail is not too bad....
Are you installing a high volume oil pump during your job like the melling M340HV? that will make up for a bit of extra clearance in an older motor like this....

Melling Oil Pump M-340HV
rignt now im having a hard time removing the bolt to the tube with out pulling the oil pan. my finger are to big to grab the bolt to unscrew it.
You must put everything back exactly how it came out ,orientation is everything .Cam caps are worn in at a location so they must face the same way in the same spot. cams are left and right they are different not interchangeable . The cam bolts are done in sequence a little at a time. Torque is 89 inch pounds .
some scoring normal . You have to feel it with your finger nail.
Put cams back at timing point all rollers in place cam lobes on 1 and 5 pointing per book . Crank dot at six o'clock

Did you have any broken chain guides? It might not be a bad idea to drop the oil pan anyway and make sure there are no debris that could end up blocking the pickup screen.
Otherwise the ratcheting 8mm wrench and dextrous fingers are a must.

I would drop the pan then. It's not that much more work from where you are now and it will allow you to ensure the junk all gets cleaned out. If the truck is rwd it's easy.
If it is 4wd you have to remove the bolt on the passenger side that attaches the front axle to the frame so the axle can hang down low enough to pull the pan out.
You areally don't want any debris in the pan

Removing the pan is a must do ,all the new parts are for nothing if debris plugs oil pickup. very common problem , that oil screen is hard to get clean with fibers and stuff in it , . That other stuff will be stuck to the muck in bottom of pan until it breaks loose one day . No way for it to come out oil drain .
Ford tech makuloco will tell you all this on you tube . But keep in mind there are different methods of doing all this . He removes certain rollers we remove cams and all rollers.
We avoid all this moving of crank and reference to 11 oclock keyway -12 oclock etc we just use six oclock timing dot on crank gear .
But he is the one pushing amazon to get the melling hv pump , thanks to him . He is the expert ,he has lots of tricks . He is fast and works alone so his labor is different than ours.
