I have a couple questions regarding the inner tie rod and the tie rod end. First off I have an 06 FX4, 8" BDS lift with 37" BFG's. I noticed that I can see the stud on the outer tie rod end joint when looking at the knuckle straight on from the side. I also want to prevent future problems with the tie rods so I figured I would change them out for MOOG ones. Is that how you can tell the tie rod ends are bad?? Also, should I change out the inner tie rod as well while I am at it? How does the inner one go bad other than breaking right off? Would getting a MOOG inner rod help or provide more help with turning the 37's? Finally, I saw the mod BobKyle's post on changing the outer tie rods which look fairly easy but how crazy is the inner ones? I read somewhere online that you need a special Ford tie rod tool to get the inner rod off of the rack....Anyone change out the inner/outer tie rod parts and want to provide some insight??
