My 04 5.4 makes a tick too. I only have 54,000 on it I have heard it since i bought it 1 year ago. the dealer told me it was normal.

I have that sound on my 05 with 76,000mi on it and my nieghbor has the same tick too on his 05 with 40,000mi on it. The dealer told him it was the injectors.

Mine has done it since day 1 when I got my 04 5.4 brand new.

I'm coming up on 75,000 miles and it still runs fine, I wouldn't worry about it
