Throttle (gas pedal) sensitivity
This is not a (2008 5.4) truck problem, rather a driver problem, but ...
Ford (in my experience with several vehicles) needs very little pedal movement to create substantial torque. If I am very gentle, it is ok, but I'm not the most coordinated guy and am somewhat jerky. Our family's previous 5 or 6 vehicles have been ... cough-cough ... GM vehicles which are far less sensitive.
I know with older motorcycles, the "cam" for the throttle cable can be changed; with newer, the "gain" curve can be tuned. Is there anything equivalent on the 2008 Ford F150? If it matters, I do not have adjustable pedals.

Our trucks are drive by wire. The throttle body is electronically operated and it is not proportional (pressing the gas down 30% does NOT open the throttle body 30 percent) . Nothing I can think of to help you in this situation regarding the "sensitivity" you would have to get the computer reprogrammed.
