Black liquid out exhaust on start up
I have a1992 Chevy s10 blazer and I've had it for a few months now. And only twice upon start up has it spewed this black crap out the exhaust. I just want to know... Wtf is it? What causes it?
Thanks in advance!!

Looks like rust. Previous owner drive it much?? Does it ever sit in a downhill attitude? Stock exhaust?? How old?
What I'm getting at. When engines are running they create a small amount of water vapor that comes out the exhaust. If this thing was run and then parked downhill, that crap just sat in the cat converter and muffler, and rusted. And when it starts up again, or if you hit a bump(say a curb pulling in the driveway), it'll get knocked loose.
This is only my theory. Never seen it before. If that's not it. Just say its because it's a chevy

It sits in a uphill driveway at night at and its a 1992 Idk it doesn't really have a hint of rust in it.. It's just dark black. And it seems like it only does it after it does this on cold mornings; every once in a while on a real cold morning ill be driving for about 3 minutes and it will just lose power and sputter.. And sometimes make a pretty loud POP by my feet. It will still accelerate slowly, and it sounds like ****, like it sounds like a fairly loud exhaust leak. It will throw the Engine light but when it warms up and I shut it off and turn it on the light turns back off. But what I was getting at is, it seems like it spews the black crap out if I start it up right after it does it's sputtering thing. And it has 170,000 miles. Owner before me was an older gentleman, so I assume he didn't have a lead foot. It looks great in and out.. Runs great all the time when it's warm out side.

Im not sure where you live or how far you drive it daily but I would say the exhaust is getting hot from being driven and then condensation is building up in the pipes from the temp change. Mix that with the typical carbon build up in the exhaust pipes and you get this crap staining your driveway. An easy way to tell is rub a finger in it when it is wet and see if it is solid black or if it is watery with like black power mixed in it. Also rub it once the spot has dried and see if its powdery on your finger. You cant really fix it and is very typical of chevy suv and trucks with the 4.3L and stock exhaust.
