Default Thinking about trading my truck

There is always a way to go higher 2wd or 4wd, but if u want 4wd there is only one way. I have an 06 lariat supercab 2wd with 42k miles right now. Im good buds with the manager at my local Ford dealership. So, this weekend i think im going to head down there and see if he can do and even trade for an older 4x4 with a few more miles, lariat or fx4. According to KBB, my truck 2 years older with 15k more miles is $4000-$5000 less. What do yall think?

Go for it, I'd try to stay with an 06 and take the hit on the miles. Gets you the newer bumper, and no cam phaser or injector issues. Personally I'd go with the lariat unless you can find a leather FX4 you really like.

I've thought about the same thing but the thing that scares me is the unknown of what you're getting. I've had my 08 since it was new and know how it runs. I'd be scared trading in what I know is a pampered 08 2wd for a who knows what condition 4wd...

Just my 2 cents.

I say go for it be aware that if you get a 2004 you have a good chance of running into cam phasers problems in the future so I'd stick to the 06. Does anybody know if the 2005s had cam phaser problems or not? And I would take all the mods off your truck that you can and put them on your new truck

Thanks for all the imput, but im 18, and its in my parents name. And im also not very high on cash so idk about sticking with another 06, but gator you are right, i could take a hit on the miles. And yeah im trying to stick with a lariat or fx4 with leather for sure. Im praying he will have something i like

This is just me, but i would never buy a used 4wd pickup unless i knew the previous owner very well. Remeber, there are lots of dumb people out there.
