Thinking about Re-Gearing, Looking for Info
I am by no means a mechanic, nor do I have any experience with anything of this nature, but I'm looking to get some information on upgrading my gear ratio. Truck Specs:
04 F150 FX4
33/12.5 Tires
Mostly road driving, but offroad frequently
I want to eventually put a 6in lift, and possibly 37"s (just depends on financials)
What would be the recommended Gear Ratio for my setup?
Where would I get the necessary parts?
From what I've read this is something that needs to be done professionally?
Estimated Price Range?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of upgrading?
Sorry to ask a million questions, but I ran a search through the thread and a few other places, and just couldn't find the info I was looking for. Thanks in advance.

Nice truck bud. Alright Il try n answer most of your questioins. First off I wouldnt regear until you lifted with new tires. If you go 35s I say 4.56s Goin with 37s I would go with 4.56s or 4.88s. Depends on how much highway driving you do. Gears are something only a pro should be doing. As far a price your lookin at anywhere from 1300-1700 bucks. It just all depends on where you go. Gears themselves with install kits will run you around 850-950. Its the labor that makes up the rest. This cost would be cut in half if you were 2wd but being 4wd you have to change rear and front. If your on 37s regearing will help out your gas mileage, relieve stress on the motor and tranny and keep your truck feeling like it was stock.
