Default Think it's broken? Fuel Control Module

So today my 04 F150 FX4 just randomly dies on me on my way home. I put it in park, and I can fire it right back up, and I can limp about 10 feet forward, and it sputters to a halt again. I finally limp it home, about 8 block, and a half hour later, and come on here to see what some problems could be. I disconnected the MAF to see if it could be that, no luck. Next I disconnected the cam position sensors to see if it could be something with the phazers, no luck there. So I ran to Oriley Auto, with my other vehicle of course, and rented a scanner. I got codes P2106, P0102, P0113, P0191, P0340, P0345. The only one that stood out to me (That wasn't done by me unplugging things) was the P0191 Code, Fuel Rail Pressure Circuit. I did some digging on here, and found the best place to start was the fuel control module. This is what I found.

Needless to say, I went and got a new one. There must still be a shortage on these things, as many shops around here say they're backordered. I had to drive an hour and a half to pick a new one up. I only put the new one on about an hour ago, but it seems that it was the main problem of my loss of power. Thank goodness for this website I'm glad it wasn't the fuel pump, or something more in-depth. $138 and a half hour of labor, and it's running like a champ again

-I'm new to this website, so mods, if you feel this is in the wrong area, please move it.

That's why I posted it on here.. I guess it's a pretty common problem. I did some searching on Google for the problems I was having, and it seems a lot of people have the same problem, and can't diagnose it themselves. Hopefully my thread helps someone, somewhere. The shop said I was lucky that I was able to start it back up, that most trucks just die, and that's where they sit. It's real easy to check, just lower the spare tire to the ground, and shine a flashlight up at the crossmember the tire covered. You should be able to see if it's broken or not right away.

Ya. I've just been too lazy to look at it. Heck I was under my truck just the other day. I've got a long trip coming up too.

Yep, that looks cracked. Did you install the new standoffs? They're essentially spacers to account for the bend in the frame where the module mounts.

I bought a new module over a year ago just in case mine goes bad...

I was wondering if I should just keep one on hand. My neighbors went out on his '05 the other day. Mines an '04. Would suck if it went out and I couldn't get a replacement right away. BTW, how much are they?

StoveTop - Yes, I did get the new one with the extended bolts that lift it off the crossmember. It was a pain the butt to find a replacement tho, as nobody seemed to have them.

Roush - Mine ended up being around $135 after tax from a dealer. If you get one before yours fails, you could probably order one online for less than $100.
