Default Things to check for on an 04 FX4

Hey guys. Found an FX4 that has triggered my interest. Is there anything I need to look at in terms of potential problem areas? I am not talking about motor, tranny, rust type stuff. I am wondering about interior issues that I should look for, little leak spots ect.

This place wants 12.9 for the truck, im going to get them down to 10.5 before my time is done there. LOL I just want to go in armed and dangerous with knowledge so I can nitpick them to death.

Any info will help.

i'd be more worried about motor/tranny stuff over interior stuff. I mean, the 04 5.4L had cam phaser problems, you are probably due for a spark plug change and the 5.4 are 2 piece, some dealers are charging $1k. These are things you should check up on and make sure they have been fixed prior (cam phaser is a simple swap, make them put 1 pc plugs instead of the original 2piece plugs).

Went and looked at the truck today. Major POS. Got under it with a flashlight and checked all the under body components. Found out the bottom of the oil pan and tranny were wetter than a virgin on prom night. More than a few fluid leaks all over the truck. Passenger side head was leaking oil out of the gasket also.

I'm assuming you're in the Houston area based on the 281 in your name... if thats true, you should be able to find an 05-06 for around that price, and in much better shape, mileage too. A good place to look for a nice used F150 are chevy/dodge dealerships, believe it or not. just a few thoughts...

i just got a 2004 FX4 with only 35,000 miles on it. This guy babied the crap out of it! He traded it in on a 2006 cadillac escalade with 90,000 miles on it! But i found nothing wrong with mine, its beautiful inside and out. Keep looking! the right one will come around!

I have had mine for 6 months now , 38k miles I had to replace front brakes and rotors when I got it and the rear passenger window regulator went out, but besides that I haven't had any issues .
