so i tried searching couldnt find much, i know how to take the mirrors out and what not, but i was wondering if they come apart like taking the caps off or something or pulling the glass out i dont wanna just pull and break something, but i wanna and some custom lights to the mirrors like the superdutys have but cant figure out how to get the mirror apart, and help would be great. thanks

ps: stock lariat mirrors.. no towing mirrors. yet

 

I think I read the 04 and 05 mirrors are one piece, despite looking like two.

 

damn, oh well.. do you know if the aftermarket towing mirrors come apart, cuz i could always add the lights to them instead then when i get a set

 

The glass comes out and the top cap is removable on the towing mirrors, Thats what I had to do to add the chrome caps to the towing mirrors. The black cap came off and the chrome screwed on from the inside. I just remember removing the glass was not fun. The clips are delicate and break easy.

 

Where are you trying to put lights? Signal lights or puddle lights? The aftermarket tow mirrors are a pretty good price as far as I am concerned and you can get them with signals, puddles, power, heated, etc.

 

i want to put some on the front sides like the 08+ superdutys have, just something custom, i have blinkers in my stock lariat mirrors now, and did find the towing mirrors with heat, power, signal and puddle just havent gotten them yet.. but i like how the superduty mirrors have the blinkers on the front so i wanted to do something along those lines to mine.. just a thought

 

The mirrors are all 1 piece.

I dont think that you can take them apart from memory.

If you want to take them off to replace, you remove the door panel trim and expose 3 bolts that hold the mirror on the door.
