Synthetic Oil vs Conventional
So I'm a DIY guy when it comes to standard preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake changes, etc.).
I made the choice when I got the truck to go full synthetic Mobil 1 during changes. I've always been told "once synthetic you HAVE TO stay synthetic." -- but never told why. What actually happens when you go from synthetic to conventional oil? Does it damage anything? Looking for facts here please. Thanks.

I believe it has to do with the conditioning of the bearings and gaskets. Not exactly sure, curious myself. I know that it is ok to go from conventional to synthetic but dont go back to conventional.

Here we go again with the myths.
Rather than write up another answer to be stored on this forum, use the search. You will see this myth and many others on dyno verses sytnthetic have been discussed.
Readers digest version: you can switch back and forth, mix, and never have to worry about seals, leaks, or other internet myths about the two.
