Default 2004 F150 fuel pump not working

I have been having problems with my 2004 F150 dying on the road like it ran out of gas. Changed the fuel filter and then it ran for a couple of days. Now it wont start. I can hear the fuel pump relay switch on but I cannot hear the fuel pump turn on. I disconnected the line to the fuel filter and it does not pump fuel. I replaced the FPCM about 2 years ago so I do not think that is the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No i havent checked the fcpm yet. I did put the spacers on when I installed the new one. I reset the inertia switch and then it started. so may be the inertia switch is faulty. But I did not do that the other times and it would restart after awhile. Have to try to reset the switch after it stops again.

I've seen FPDM's go in as little as 10 months, even with spacers. Some of the aftermarket replacements are of even lower quality than the crap ones that Ford put on these trucks.
