Default Surging RPM

The truck: 2007 F150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4
The km: 169,000
The issue: Between 30-60km the RPM spike to over 3k from 1.5-2 during slow + steady acceleration, then immediately drop back town to an expected amount after 2-3 seconds.

Possible cause and recommended solution?

I have the Ford tick as well, but that's a battle for another day.

You'll have to forgive me. My baseline knowledge with respect to auto's is pretty damn low.

Purchased the truck from a dealer just over a year ago. Regular oil changes since then and tire rotations but nothing else.

DTC = diagnostic trouble codes? I'm not sure where these are generated or how I view them, but the brake light intermittently goes on and stays on before disappearing for days. No CEL though.

Check engine light, yeah. lol
Not knowing a good maintenance history makes things difficult. Could be clogged fuel filter, to clogged VCT Solenoids, to trans that tries to lock/unlock when it isn't supposed to. CEL would certainly help. How does the truck feel when the RPM jumps, does it run smooth, or stumble, shake, jerk, etc.?

When it jumps there's is the slightest rumble. Like very, very subtle. More smooth then not. I normally just hear the engine spike in noise and rpm, then I let off the gas, rpms dip back to an acceptable level and it drives fine.

Do you know if the plugs have been changed?
Could also be leaky vacuum line.
A CEL or someone who could hook a nice scanner into it while you drive would be nice..lol

I don't think plugs have been changed... I assume this a dealer/mechanic visit to check vacuum line?

Maybe someone can chime in with a little more advice....so many variables it seems.
How's your tranny? Is the fluid level good? Is the fluid dark, discolored, burnt smelling?
