Default Superchips and new Tranny question

I purchased my 07 F150 back in January and it had a superchips upgrade already installed on it. Since then my tranny went out and the Ford dealer replaced it with a new one...my question is will the superchips mod still run the new tranny? Or would the dealership have wiped clean/or overwritten the superchips tune? Also, how can I confirm that the Superchips mod is still in effect?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Is your superchips a tuner that plugs into the OBD-II plug, or is it a chip that installs under the hood? Most tuners "save" your stock tune within their unit. In theory, your supposed to reflash to stock before you take the vehicle in for repair, then reflash after you pick it up.

if i read it right they just sold you the truck without the tuner with it, and a tune installed which is stupid becuase you cant use the tuner until you return to stock on the truck its programmed on

Good question? I don't know if it was an actual chip or a plug in tuner. It was sold to me with it installed already (previous owner installed that and CAI and Magnaflow exhaust). Is there an easy to way to check to see if the chip is there? Where would it be? If it was a plug in tuner, the question would be if the previous owner traded in the truck with the tune still there or returned it to stock so that he could use the tuner elsewhere or sell it right?

Actually, it was a used truck and the previous owner installed it and some other mods and then then traded it in and I bought it with all the mods and am looking to see if the tuner is still programmed in or if there is a chip in there as Bucko questioned me about. Make sense?

superchips doesnt make a chip for a 2007 f150 4.2, 4.6, or 5.4. it would have to be a plug in tuner (cortex, flashpaq, mileage xs). if the truck was tuned before it went to the shop and stock now you will know the first time you get on the gas, the truck will be a lot more sluggish. my guess would be that the guy returned it back to stock before trading the truck, otherwise he most likely wouldve included the tuner.

yeah I have to agree, I'm almost positive the dealership wont give you your warranty if you have certain aftermarket items installed on it.

Will the computer reset to the original stock defaults if you disconnect the battery?

not to familiar with the superchips yet, but I just ordered one and im still waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

nope, when you tune your truck the stock file is downloaded to the tuner and then erased from the trucks pcm, then the new tune is uploaded to the pcm. the only way to get the stock tune back without the tuner is to get it flashed at the dealership.

i have the superchips and ive heard that it wont run very well with a CAI and exhuast, more of a custom tunes thing, if they didnt include the tuner i would say its on stock, a locked tuners isnt worth much, find out who the previous owner is and call them up

Thank you all for your straightforward and helpful comments. Good to know, I was under the impression that it was tuned, but this makes sense that it wouldn't be anymore (far from sluggish though and with the CAI and exhaust it blows my friends King Ranch away). As for the warranty, the dealership wouldn't offer their "certified" used warranty because of the CAI and exhaust. I don't know if they had any idea it was ever tuned or not. Now I am interested in getting it tuned and seeing what I can unleash out of this beast. Will do a search and figure out which tuners work best for my application.

Thanks again Forum.
