Supercharger
To supercharge or not to supercharge....that is my question. Seriously though i am considering supercharging my truck. I have never driven/owned a supercharged car/truck. I need real pros and cons. Recommendations etc...
Thanks

Most OEM internals are not designed to cope with the added stresses of higher compression, if you are only going to run a few pounds, you are probably okay. Although I don't know much about the internals of the motors in these trucks, you might even be okay with 5psi?

Id go with a Whipple or Saleen Kit. The twin screw design on these blowers are much Superior to the Root design on the Roush or Magncharger. Plus the Twin screw will have lower IAT which is better for performance.
The 5.4 3v, can easily handle 8lbs easy. I am personally running 9.5lbs, 10lbs on cold nights. There is one gentleman on another forum running 12lbs. It is all in the tune. If you have a good tune for the engine and transmission it will hold up fine.

Hate to be the party pooper but I would say just don't do it. Unless it's something you just have to have then you're probably opening up a can of worms that will leave you unhappy in the end. I'm not saying it wouldn't be awesome but it will reduce the life of you're engine and will definitely reduce your resale value if you plan on selling it anytime soon. That's just my 2 cents.

This is fact not opinion. Your internals on that 08' are forged. That is why name brands make the kit for them and warranty your drive train.
My opinion is, if you want more power than you can get with any other upgrade, or even a combination of bolt-ons, put a supercharger on it, and if you want it to last....don't dog it out and it will be fine. Have a little fun but don't go crazy in it. I looked at your addons but I can't remember if you had big tires on it or not. If you had 35's or bigger you might want to change the gears or be very careful on WOT from a stand still. MHO SC with 35's or bigger = busted axle or drive shaft or worse....WOT from stand still that is.
I've had mine on for 8 months or so and I love it. I will probably never own another truck that isn't turbo or SC...willing to bet ya, everyone on this forum with one will say the same.
