Default Suggestions for Keyless Entry Remote Scenario - Help Appreciated

So here's the situation, I was getting out of my buddies truck yesterday and the plastic loop for the keyless remote for my 05 SCREW snapped so now I have a remote that is nearly useless. I know I could just get a new remote and program it and stuff, but since this board is pretty much all about modding and making things better, what would you do in my position?

Here are some thing's that I've thought about
1. Get a new factory fob, call it a day.
2. Get one of the switchblade key and fob combos
3. Viper system w/ remote start.

If I decide on #'s 1 or 2, I want to do it myself so if you suggest that, could you point me towards a product and maybe a write-up? If I were to choose #3, then Best Buy would be installing it for me since it's included in the price.

I know there may be some topics concerning some of these ideas, but instead of being all over the place I figured this could serve as a place to consolidate the pro's and con's to each thing...if this is off base, please feel free to lock and delete.

Thanks, Blackhawk51

There are some cheap ( around$10) silicone sleaves on ebay that you can slide over your key fob and then run the keyring thru the hole on it. I did this on my old sport trac and had it that way for a couple years until I got my remote start. The sleeve is like the silicone cell phone covers.

I was thinking about getting one of them switchblade keys, they are on ebay for about $40, and if you already have 2 remotes for your truck you can program them yourself, and just have them cut at a hardware store. My only concern with them is the quality, i don't want a key with a cheap hinge that will break off while in the ignition.

I'd get a new fob. I have a Viper on my truck and never use it.

I'll most likely just get a new fob or one of the sleeves. How hard are they to program? I have one remote and two keys.
