Soft sand .. 4WD is a must. A 2WD acts like a plow because, the front wheels do not pull like a 4WD would.

Avoid sharp turns, keep a constant motion and avoid digging trenches. If you do start to dig, try to back out slowly or use something like a floor mat and give yourself traction. Like Tech said, stay away from soft sand.

Man, my '07 generally didn't go in 4x4 unless it was REALLY soft. Went through a lot in 2wd. I ran 275/65R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers for a while, then ran 35x12.5R20 Federal Couragia MT's, then 285/60R20 KO2's, then 35x12.5R20 Trail Grapplers. The ONLY one that got me stuck (tide started coming in) was the KO2's, and that's because they were almost bald. Don't stress it. Main thing, don't stop in the soft stuff. If you start slowing down, hammer down. If you stop, you're stuck.
Depending on where you go, there's generally someone with 4x4 and a strap down here that is itching to pull someone out (although some decide to charge).

Wide tires, momentum, and dont spin the tires. Only take a couple rotations in sand to get buried. Also wet sand is usually a safe bet as long as there isnt water (waves) washing back an forth.

I have searched the forums and found a few similar threads, but nothing that directly solves my problem. I have a 2004 screw lariat 2wd. I don't do much offroading, but I do drive on the beach often. Are there any solutions for a 2wd avoiding getting stuck in soft sand? Would a rear locker help? BTW...my axle code is H9. Thanks in advance for the help.
