Default New guy wants to upgrade to power windows/locks

Hello all, first post.
I have an 08 XL supercab pretty much bare bones and want to upgrade to power windows and locks. I found some older threads about this here:

https://www.f150forum.com/f4/power-w...version-90234/

I was wondering if anyone had a detailed step by step with pics or a video on this process.

Another key question for everyone, before I remove a door panel to see, I thought I would ask. Does a truck sold with manual windows and locks already have the appropriate wiring harness connections inside the door? If not, and if I wanted to use all OEM stuff, what else other than the window regulator, inner door panels, switch panels, etc do I need? I am mostly focused on the windows right now, not so much the power lock upgrade.
Thanks in advance!
Dave

I just replied to this thread asking about the same thing. I have an 08 XL Supercab as well and am thinking about putting together a write-up with some info on how I did it. Keep an eye out when I get around to doing that!

Well, good news. I did get the power windows swap done. I meant to document it but as usual I was lazy. It took alot of sourcing parts from everywhere:
1. Drivers door panel- eBay for 100 bucks from a 2004.
2. Passengers door panel-eBay for 120 bucks from a 2006.
3. Drivers switch panel for only front windows, locks and mirror (I decided to only do the front windows, I didnt care about the back ones. Too much complication) 35 bucks, eBay
4. Passenger side switch panel-30 bucks, eBay
5. Was able to get from my local pick-n-pull the front window regulators, part of the wiring harness for each door, and the power lock actuators for each door-100 bucks for everything. Came out of a 2006.

Now that I had all the parts the fun began.
1. first checked the regulators for function using a spare battery, no problems.
2. Had a mad scientist table going on with wires everywhere to figure out how to wire the switches to power and the regulators. Actually it was pretty easy on the bench.
2a. Each switch needed a power and ground, and 2 signal wires going to each actuator. then one wire went from teh driver switch over to the passenger switch to be able to operate both windows from the drivers side.
3. As the 08's had those stupid door to A-panel wire block connectors, I had to drill a hole in the truck A pillar area to run the wires into the truck from the doors.
4. ran the two power wires together to a 30a fuse as the XL had the crappy fusebox with no way for the 30a relay to function as it does in the better equipped trucks.
5. everything works fine except the windows are not on a ignition circuit, they are on the battery circuit. This is something I need to fix.
Next step is solve the power locks and they are harder to do as the wiring feeds in to the body security module which I dont have. Fun times!
