Sounds like the4 IWE solenoid was letting at least one side engage 4x4 hubs . Loss of vacuum will cause them to activate , Lots of IWE sol failures due to water getting on solenoid . newer ones come with rain hood . Its hard to under stand this thread , he says he replaced actuator , that could be several parts . I'm guessing it was the solenoid , the cheapest part .
