Default Strange sound need help with!!

Let me start by saying I have been "lurking" on this forum for quite some time before finally joining and posting. All of the information and resources on the forum have been great .

I drive a 2005 f150 fx4 5.4 with only 30k on it.
About a month ago I started noticing a strange sound from my driver-side front end. Its not overly loud and makes an errrrrrrrr sound for about 5 seconds.

The ONLY time the sound is made is after starting the truck and beginning to drive.

any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been racking my brain over it and been unable to come up with any real theories!

almost sounds like power steering. Have you checked fluid? Does it tend to happen when its cold?

I noticed the same issue on my 05 f150 (109,000 miles).

Only seem to notice it in the cold though. Also drivers side, also when you first start it up and first drive it.

( I also have a power steering noise.....but its not the same as the noise I am describing and what it sounds like the OP is describing.)

It almost sounds like its in the dash or on the drivers side of the firewall. Kind of a mix between a rattle and a humm that resonates.

not sure what it is, whatever it is ,has not bugged me TOO bad being that it goes away after awhile. But would still like to pin point the noise.

may be my power steering laboring to pump cold thicker fluid and the slight noise it causes resonates up the steering column ?. not sure lol.

Have the same issue on my 2006 with 133,000. When it's cold out, and it's just been started it does it. It has to do with engine load because mine is loud when the truck is still but quiets down when it moves. Not sure what it is, and it doesn't always happen

Steering fluid level is fine when I checked. You're spot on with the location sounding like it's right behind the drivers dash near the firewall.

The sound occurs even after the truck has been driven
Parked, and then re-started. But only immidiatly after engaging into drive.

Is your heat on? Blend door makes a sound like that. Move your temp on the ac controls up and down and see if the noise comes as the heat goes on and off.

Yes I have the gotts mod, I also was thinking that was the cause of the noise but it is not. I have also tried different a/c and heat settings. No change

Oh ok cause i have that mod and i had a creaking sound from under what seemed like under my dash. Only made a sound on crank up and take offs. I searched for 3 months until i read a thread that told me to check the 3 in intake pipe and that was it. Re adjusted it and it was fixed.

No change with heat settings and my motor is none stock. The sound occurs right when the truck engine come under slight load but only moving forward in drive. And only once during the driving cycle inkling it's shut off and started again.
